We have recently taken some time to think about what makes us special here at Brookfield and have determined our five core values which express what it is that we believe in as a childcare provider and general contributor to the local community. These values will be shared with you over the coming weeks with our first today which is MUCKY, MESSY, HAPPY.

This value summarises our aim to provide the children with opportunities for active learning through a multi sensory environment enabling them to build self-esteem and confidence. Creative experiences with freedom to explore open ended opportunities in a natural environment - whatever the weather.

And on that note, what a mess the builders are making! But we can't complain as we love being Mucky, Messy and Happy ourselves here at the nursery. Whether we're cooking up pies in the mud kitchen or having water balloon fights in this hot summers sunny weather.

The extension project is coming along nicely and the plasterers have now begun plastering the inside and the roof is in the process of being installed.

The project is on track and the large team of builders are working hard to make sure the work finishes on schedule.

The pre-school play area has begun its transformation into a new land of mounds, tunnels, tyre walls and slides. The pre-school onlookers initially quizzed the builders on why their play area had become momentarily out of use but have now started to ask when it will be ready for them to explore. Very soon we hope!

The mounds have been built with tunnels passing through them to access the new play areas which are also accessible to wheelchair users. Tyre walls provide opportunities to climb to the top and slide down the other side and the brilliant landscapers have designed a mud play area with our own little stream in a rock bed.

The changes to the car park are due to start next week when signage will be put in place clearly demarcating the new one way system.

Not long to go now - we are all very excited to see the finished article!

Thanks to the dedicated hard work and commitment provided by all of the Brookfield team, this project has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government. The purpose of the contributory grant is to support the construction of an extension to the existing building to enable provision of a greater number of childcare places to the local community.
